We wanted to be able to offer people the best deals from one place, without the need to "Compare the Market." We are not tied to any funders and we are not part of a franchise, so we can shop the market to find you the best car or van. |

3 - What contracts do you offer?
Cocoon Vehicles offers a wide range of Contract Hire and Leases. We specialise in Short Term Contract Hire and Leasing, but also offer 24 and 36 month contract hire. Cocoon Vehicles also offers Traditional Finance such as Hire Purchase and Personal Contract Purchase (PCP), very much like the Dealers. We can also tap into dealers subsidised offers without you having to visit the showroom. Looking at buying your car outright? Then thats not a problem either. We offer Brand New Cars and Vans, and you can utilise our buying power and tap into our discounts. We also offer a wide range of Used Cars and Ex-Fleet vehicles. |
4 - What is the difference between an initial rental and a security deposit?
Deposits are fully refundable and will be returned at the end of the lease, providing the vehicle has been returned in the correct condition. On Short Term Contract Hire, this is usually equivilent to 1 period payment. Depending on your credit status, this may be increased. Initial rentals are non-refundable and are used to reduce the further monthly payments. These can be displayed as 3 + 11, 6 + 23, etc. Example. A rental of £299.99 per month on a 3 + 11 Contract, where 3 payments are made up front the initial deposit would be £899.97 + VAT followed by 11 payments of £299.99 + VAT. Depending on your credit status, a funder may request more payments up front or a lump sum. Holding deposits are taken against a vehicle when ordering, should you not go ahead with the vehicle. Cocoon Vehicles reserves the right to take an agency fee from this amount to cover administration and advertising costs. |
5 - What is the Doc Fee for?
On Short Term Contract Hire and Leasing a Documentation Charge is payable of usually £125 + VAT, this is to cover administration costs and the drawing up of contracts, etc. On Long Term Contract Hire, it is very rare that a Documentation fee is charged. Although larger funders like Daimler Finance do charge £180 + VAT for the drawing up of contracts. We will make this clear to you before you sign the order form. |
6 - Will I be refused a lease if I have an adverse credit history?
Cocoon Vehicles will look at helping you get a vehicle if you have adverse credit, CCJ's or a new business start up. Our Short Term Leasing is ideal for those with credit problems or non-status as we can provide the long term funders a track record of payments, as supporting evidence. We also have a couple of funders who will look at taking you on longer term, although the terms differ greatly from the offers on our Long Term Section of the website. 7 - Can I choose the specification and the optional extras on my vehicle?
If you purchase a Brand New Vehicle via Hire Purchase, PCP or Long Term Contract Hire then the answer is Yes. We can factory order any UK vehicle, all of which come through UK dealer networks and are not imports. We also have the chnce to tap into Dealer Stock, Pre-registrations and Pack Cars from the majority of the manufacturers, as long as you are flexible on colours. On the Short Term Contract Hire, unfortunately options and colours cannot not be specified. Although if you let us have a preference on colours, we will see if we can help. Every now and then we do have vehicles come in with additional extras such as panoramic sunroofs or leather, we do try and list these on our blog under Short Term Availability. This is mainly down to the way we buy our vehicles, which are on strict buy backs from the manufacturers. For more information, please do not hesitate in contacting the Cocoon Team. |
8 - What if I have found a suitable short term contract hire vehicle, but I need a higher mileage allowance?
We list Short Term Contract Hire and Leasing vehicles on our website up to 3000 miles. Although we can cater for mileages up to 6000 miles. All you need to do is call the team to discuss your requirements. |
9 - Can you insure the vehicle for me?
We can only offer Insurance on vehicles provided through one of our daily rental companies, and on this scheme we cannot guarantee what vehicle you will receive. However, this can work out cheaper than going directly to a daily rental firm. On Apex Rental vehicles, if you are an individual or do not have a fleet policy, you must use the list provided by our staff for your insurance. Unfortunately we cannot bend the rules on these vehicles. On our Short Term Contract Hire vehicles, you may use whichever company you choose although you must inform the insurance company that it is a rental/lease vehicle. We also recommend to take out an annual policy and if needed, cancel early. It can work out cheaper than using a Short Term Insurance provider. On all other vehicles you are free to find the best insurance company for your needs, we do provide a few links to affiliates on our website. But our best tip is to use the Compare websites and then check out cashback websites such as Quidco and Greasypalm to see if you can get any additional money savings. |
10 - How does Short Term Contract Hire work
Short Term Contract Hire and Leasing is one of the most flexible ways of taking a car for a short period of time. Cocoon's vehicles are offered on a minimum term, very similar to the way a Mobile Phone contract is run. You choose your vehicle, select your minimum term (eg. 3 x 28 day periods) and then your monthly mileage. If you would like to swap your car, let us have 28 days notice and we'll arrange for something else. Alternatively if you would like to cancel then as long as you give us 28 days notice then we can arrange collection. |
11 - How do I collect the car?
On long term vehicles or purchasing we try, where possible to include delivery to your address, free of charge. On Apex Rental vehicles, delivery in included free of charge to areas in England and Wales, Scotland is additional. On Short Term Contract Hire vehicles provided by Cocoon, a reasonable delivery charge is applied. If you are an existing customer you may collect from our address Free of Charge. New customers must always have their vehicle delivered to their address as per their proof's, this is due to security procedures. We do charge for collection of vehicles from your premises, but you are more than welcome to bring your short term car back to our office on Pride Park in Derby. |
12 - Does my vehicle come with a warranty?
On Brand New cars, you will receive the manufacturers standard warranty which is usually 3 years. On Used and Ex-fleet vehicles, the balance of the manufacturers warranty comes with the vehicle. All of our leasing cars, providing that they are taken for no longer than 36 months come with the standard manufacturers warranty. |
13 - What do I do in the event of a breakdown?
All of our Short Term Leasing Vehicles are covered by one of the leading breakdown assistance companies, and information can be found in the book packs or on the tax disc holder. On new cars, the roadside assistance included can differ depending on the manufacturers. Please check your paperwork for more information. |
14 - Are all of my services included?
On our short term leasing vehicles, the majority offer do include maintenance and tyres. But this does not include any accidental damage. Our long term offers listed on the website, do not include any maintenance although this can be offered as an option. It cn work out more expensive to add maintenance on contracts less than 20k per annum, we would recommend researching the servicing costs against the extra money. One point to be made for all vehicles, is that it is the drivers responsibility to ensure the vehicle is serviced inline with the recommended manufacturers requirements. |
15 - How many keys are provided with my new vehicle?
On Long Term Contracts, purchases and ex-fleet vehicles, the standard number of keys are provided unless specified. On Short Term Contracts, we only provide 1 key as security. You may order an additional key from the manufacturers with written permission from ourselves, although we will not subsidise this cost in anyway and as per our terms and conditions we can swap the car at anytime. |
